The gateway to Kyoto! The area around Kyoto Station

Kyoto Station is the gateway to Kyoto. Many people get excited when they see Kyoto Tower and realize they've arrived in Kyoto.
The area around Kyoto Station is packed with great places to eat while walking around. We will introduce you to some great places to stop by on your way to and from your trip, as well as when you feel a bit hungry.
[Beef cutlet sandwich] Enjoy the same taste since the establishment! "Shizuya Kyoto Station Branch"

Shizuya was founded in Kawaramachi, Kyoto in 1948. It is now one of Kyoto's most well-established bakeries, with 21 stores in Kyoto and Hirakata.
Shizuya Kyoto Station Store is located inside Asty Road at the Hachijo Exit of Kyoto Station on the Shinkansen Line. It is conveniently open from early in the morning until late at night, and many people stop by when they arrive or leave Kyoto.
One of the shop's signature items, the "Original Beef Cutlet Sandwich" (650 yen), continues to maintain the same flavor as when the shop first opened.
The "Original Beef Cutlet Sandwich" is a lightly toasted slice of bread, generously smeared with their own unique sweet and spicy sauce, and sandwiched between two slices of cutlet. The cutlet is covered in light breadcrumbs and fried in a special way, making it juicy yet crispy.
They are particular about how the cutlet is sandwiched so that the two pieces are clearly visible, and just looking at the cross-section makes you feel wealthy.

Depending on the time, you may be able to experience the "freshly made time." The "Original Beef Cutlet Sandwich" is delicious even when it's cold, but it's also exceptional when it's hot and fresh, so it's a good idea to go when it's freshly made.

[Baumkuchen] Enjoy the popular product in stick form at "Otabe Kyo Baum Kyoto Tower Sando Store"

At Otabe Kyo Baum Kyoto Tower Sando, located on the first floor of the Kyoto Tower Building's commercial facility KYOTO TOWER SANDO, you can enjoy the popular Kyoto souvenir "Kyoto Baum" in a size that you can eat while walking around. This is the only store around Kyoto Station that sells the size that you can eat while walking around.

"Kyoto Baum" (3.5cm high, 1,490 yen) is a Western-style confectionery made by "Biju", known for its "Otabe Fresh Yatsuhashi with Red Bean Paste". It is a specially made Baumkuchen baked using carefully selected domestic ingredients, such as soy milk made from Kyoto's underground water and wheat flour that melts in your mouth.
The contrast between the green of the matcha dough, which is a blend of Uji matcha and sencha, and the white of the soy milk is eye-catching.

The stick-type "Tabe Aruki Kyo Baum" (400 yen) contains two 1/8ths of a whole "Kyo Baum". In other words, you can enjoy a quarter of a whole. It's a great size for those who want to enjoy it easily.
KYOTO TOWER SANDO is a commercial facility located on the first and second basement floors of Kyoto Tower Building, the landmark of Kyoto Station. It opened in 2017 and has become a popular new attraction at Kyoto Station, so if you're using the station, be sure to stop by.

[Latte] Enjoy your favorite cup of coffee as if you were at home at "Kurasu Kyoto Stand"

About a 5-minute walk east from JR Kyoto Station, on the way to Umekoji Park, Kyoto Aquarium, and Kyoto Railway Museum, is Kurasu Kyoto Stand, a specialty coffee shop based in Kyoto.

The barista will brew drip coffee and lattes using specialty coffee roasted in-house right in front of you. The iced latte (from 500 yen) is a soothing drink with a mellow milk flavor.
The counter inside the shop is set low, creating a stylish yet friendly atmosphere. You can watch the barista brew your coffee up close, so you can enjoy the time you spend waiting for your coffee to be ready.

Along with your coffee or latte, you'll want to try the homemade sweets baked at Kurasu Nishijin Roastery, a roastery in Nishijin, Kyoto. The Salted Vanilla Cookies (5 pieces for 350 yen) come in two designs, the store's logo and a coffee cup, and are made from original cookie cutters. The mild sweetness and moist, crunchy texture go perfectly with coffee.
The aroma of coffee draws tourists to the shop one after another. "Kurasu" means "to live," and the existence of a coffee stand that allows you to drop in casually as if you were living in an unfamiliar place may play an important role beyond just "drinking coffee."
