I want to go to Sri Lanka!

Sigiriya Rock
Yuco traveled to Sri Lanka in February 2020. During her short stay of 3 nights and 5 days, she enjoyed a packed itinerary that included visiting Sigiriya Rock, the Dambulla Cave Temple, and a safari experience.
Apparently he had a shocking Ayurvedic experience there.

Until then, when I thought of Ayurveda, I thought of it as something like a spa or beauty treatment, but in Sri Lanka, I was examined by a doctor and received real Ayurvedic treatment customized for me.

"After the treatment, they gave me ginger tea and brown sugar" (Yuco)
Ayurveda is a medical science that originated in ancient India. It has been passed down in India and Sri Lanka as a practical lifestyle and health method that prevents illness rather than cures it.
At the time, Yuco had been having trouble sleeping, but on the day of the treatment, she was able to sleep better than ever before and even woke up to the sound of birds chirping! She says she experienced the effects of Ayurveda firsthand.

I still can't forget the shock I felt.
Since then, my awareness of health has changed drastically, and it has become an opportunity for me to take a fresh look at my own body. By changing my diet and lifestyle, I am now able to properly reset myself the next day even when I have a tough schedule while traveling.
After this trip, Yuco researched Ayurveda and started practicing it in her own way. She says she has learned how to live a comfortable life.

Editorial Department: What else made an impression on you in Sri Lanka?

We stayed at the Geoffrey Bawa designed hotel, Heritance Kandalama.

Geoffrey Bawa is a Sri Lankan architect who is said to have changed the landscape of Southeast Asia. All of his hotels and his home (and office) in Colombo have become tourist attractions.

A distinctive feature of Bawa architecture is the design that removes the boundary between the building and nature. The Heritance Kandalama where Yuco stayed also offers beautiful views of the surrounding lake and mountains from the room, making it an appealing stay that allows you to blend into nature. Yuco says she would like to stay in another Bawa building next time.
Editorial Department: What would you like to do next time in Sri Lanka?

Last time, I was only able to experience Ayurveda for one day. Next time, I want to try a longer program!
Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic treatment that is said to be the best detox of your life, in which you undergo a detox cleansing process over a period of at least three weeks to improve your physical condition. A menu is created for each person, and you follow that menu.
Yuco's acquaintance took the program and lost 4kg, so her interest in it is only growing. She plans to take a retreat trip next year or the year after.
In addition, Yuco will share some of the charms of Sri Lanka that she has seen!
Q & A about yuco's travels
Yuco's Instagram is filled with photos that make you want to copy her. Let's get closer to her true self! We asked her various questions in a Q&A format.
Q. What first got you interested in traveling?
A. I went on an exchange program to Australia when I was in junior high school!

The local government where I lived had a system that allowed one student from each junior high school to go on an exchange program to Australia. I was lucky enough to be able to participate. I stayed for a week, but the scenery I saw away from my parents...the buildings and landscapes were like something from another world! I think that's when I realized how fun it was to go to a country other than Japan.

Q.So what countries did you go to?
A. I frequently went to Korea, Guam, Saipan, and Bali!

When I was in my 20s and had a lot of energy (lol), I often went to nearby foreign countries because it was difficult to take long vacations due to work. In particular, when I was into scuba diving, I would get on a plane to Saipan after work, scuba dive the next day, and then immediately return home!

Q. What's the secret to having so many hobbies and special skills?
A: Anyway, why don't you give it a try? (laughs)

I'm actually quite lucky. It was by chance that I applied for and was selected for an exchange program (laughs). In Sri Lanka, a restaurant that a local person happened to tell me about turned out to be a good choice. I value intuition in everything I do, and if something seems fun, I take action with agility. This often leads to great encounters. Of course, there are times when I fail, but it's important to "try it once"!
Yuco modestly claims that she was "lucky," but she gained all of these things because she took the first step. The determination to take action has led to many successes.
Q. Finally, what does “travel” mean to you, Yuco?
A.Spices that enrich life

Whenever I go on a trip, I always come back with some kind of stimulation. For example, Ayurveda is one of them. If I experience it and think it's great, I'll research it thoroughly at home and try it again in Japan. The stimulation I've never encountered before is the real spice. I want to continue meeting people from various places and experiencing things.
Traveling inspires you and leads you to take action. An experience that will inspire you to change something may be waiting for you on your trip.
Yuco's posts, filled with her own experiences and thoughts, are sure to stir your travel spirit. This is one account that I would like to continue to check regularly.

Yuco introduced us to fashion coordinator Takumi Sato (Instagram: @hello_takumi).

The two met through their work in the travel industry. As Yuco says, "Takumi coordinates his clothes to suit the destination he's traveling to, and I love fashion, so I take inspiration from him!", it seems their shared love of travel and fashion drew them together.
What kind of travel stories will she tell us? Look forward to it!
