Miyazaki Prefecture is famous for its Miyazaki beef, gyoza dumplings, and mangoes, but don't miss out on the bonito, which is in season in spring and autumn. In fact, it is a major bonito production area that has boasted the highest catch of pole and line fishing bonito in Japan since 1994, and there are many local dishes and unique souvenirs that use bonito. So why is bonito fishing so popular in Miyazaki? And what kind of local gourmet food can you taste? To find out, we flew to the area and interviewed popular restaurants.
