JAL Hometown Support Team Kagoshima Prefecture Representative Masuzawa
I'm originally from Tokyo, but I've been to the Amami Islands many times on trips and I find them very fascinating.
Also, a friend from my school days moved to Kagoshima, so I visit the island often. I wanted to spread the word about the island's attractions, so I started working on the Hometown Support Team.
The Charm of Kagoshima Prefecture
It is a tourist spot overflowing with charm where you can learn not only about the World Heritage sites of Yakushima and the Amami Islands, but also about the diverse culture and history. It is also famous for its hot springs that will soothe your travel fatigue, and boasts the second highest number of hot springs in the country. And above all, there is a wealth of Kagoshima brands, including black pork, local chicken, sweet potatoes, and tea.
The charm of Kagoshima is that you can enjoy nature, culture, hot springs, and delicious food. Why not visit at least once?
The local souvenirs chosen by the Kagoshima Prefecture Hometown Support Team are...
"Kikaijima roasted sesame seeds"

Price: 810 yen for 60g / Sold by: Minamimura Sugar

Sesame is an indispensable part of the Japanese diet, but domestically grown sesame is also very valuable, making it a very popular souvenir. The soil of Kikaijima, which was formed by the uplift of a coral reef, is rich in sea minerals, and the sesame grown there has a strong flavor and rich aroma. You can feel the aroma even more if you lightly rub it before eating.
We recommend adding it to shabu-shabu sauce or sprinkling it on stir-fried dishes. Please enjoy the flavor of precious domestic sesame.
Available for purchase at Minamimura Sugar Factory Shop (Kikai Town, Kagoshima Prefecture)
