So, in order to make the most of this summer, I've created a list of places I want to go during summer vacation.
There are plenty of summer activities you can plan now, such as beaches, pools, festivals, and gourmet food. Use this list as a reference to enjoy a classic yet unique summer trip.
City and local. A festival in the best location
[Tokyo] Summer fun and Tokyo culture condensed into one place: "TOKYO ISLAND"

Did you know that there is an incredibly vast vacant lot close to the Odaiba area, which is hard to believe is part of Tokyo?
The vacant lot, the size of 10 Tokyo Domes and without a single utility pole, is called "Umi no Mori Park" but does not yet have the facilities required for a park. It has now finished its role as a venue for the Tokyo Olympics and is quietly sleeping.
This place is soon to be properly developed into a park and become one of Tokyo's most famous landmarks. This September, it will host "TOKYO ISLAND," the largest festival since the Tokyo Olympics.

"TOKYO ISLAND" is a cultural festival that provides a place for visitors to camp in the middle of Tokyo and interact with each other. In addition to the campsite, there is music, sports, fireworks, food, BBQ, workshops, pet land, and more, condensed into three days of summer fun. The lineup of performing artists is impressive, including Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Kimura Kaela, and CreepHyp.
You can relax in a tent, discover new enjoyment in a workshop, immerse yourself in music with a beer in hand, or take a leisurely walk with your pet... In a fantastic location with a panoramic view of the Tokyo sky, you can spend your time freely without being tied down by anyone.

[Yamagata] The stage is a cliff!? Rediscover Japan at the "Ganbe Music Festival"

Uriwari Rock Garden Park in Takabatake Town, Yamagata Prefecture. Although beloved by locals, this park was not well known nationwide, but in May 2019, a group of young people transformed the park into a completely different place. They held the music festival "Ganbeki Music Festival" for the first time.
The Ganke Music Festival is a unique music festival that takes place on a cliff, just as its name suggests. The venue was the remains of a quarry in Uriwari Rock Garden Park, where huge cliffs stand tall, and the live performances were held in a spectacular location surrounded by cliffs over 50m high, which was a huge success.

After being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ganbeki Music Festival 2022 has been decided to be held for the first time in three years. A day of music will once again begin in the great outdoors of Yamagata.
This year's theme is "Spectrum." Artists from Japan and abroad will come together to aim for a gradual liberation from a world that is blocked by lines.
The vertical cliffs create excellent acoustics. Standing in an unexplored location that is different from other outdoor music festivals will naturally get you excited.

This music festival also has the significance of rediscovering attractive locations that were not known in Japan. It is likely to be an opportunity to learn about the fascinating aspects of Japan that are still unknown.
