10:00 Municipal Kannawa Steam Bath

Kannawa Steam Bath, a symbol of Kannawa Onsen, is a traditional hot spring facility said to have been opened by the monk Ippen Shonin during the Kamakura period. Opening the wooden door measuring one meter square, one enters a stone chamber of about eight tatami mats in size. Medicinal herbs are spread out on the floor, heated by the steam from the hot spring, and people lie down on top of them to bathe. After working up a sweat, one can relax both body and mind with a leisurely soak in the high-quality hot spring water. (The bath takes about 30 minutes.)

14:00 ANOTHER TIME XX

This area is home to the former Sento-ji Temple, where Ninmon Bodhisattva, who established the Rokugo Manzan culture unique to the Kunisaki Peninsula, is said to have first practiced asceticism, making it an important area for considering the spirit and philosophy of the Kunisaki Peninsula. On a rocky area up the mountain trail of Mt. Fudo, you can see "ANOTHER TIME XX" (statue), a work by British sculptor Antony Gormley, created for the Kunisaki Peninsula Art Festival. Follow the path where the ascetic monks walked and think about the history and nature that have continued since ancient times at this place with a grand panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea.
Please note that the artworks are displayed on rocky terrain, so please wear comfortable walking shoes such as trekking shoes or sneakers that you are comfortable in. (Approximately 1 hour required)
