軍艦島 （グンカンジマ）
外観が軍艦「土佐」に似ているところから「軍艦島」と呼ばれるようになった小さな海底炭坑の島は、世界文化遺産「明治日本の産業革命遺産」の構成資産のひとつです。
最盛期の人口密度は当時の東京都区部の9倍、小中学校や病院をはじめ、映画館やパチンコホールなどの娯楽施設もそろう時代の最先端の島でしたが、主要エネルギーが石炭から石油へと移行したことで昭和49(1974)年に閉山、無人島となりました。
上陸ツアーでは、坑跡や大正5(1916)年に建てられた日本最古の鉄筋アパートなどを見学通路からご覧いただけます。
所在地：長崎県長崎市高島町端島
アクセス：長崎港から軍艦島上陸ツアー船に乗船し、約40分
