Airport lounges are spacious places where you can relax, sip your favorite drink, and spend the time before boarding. Enjoying some time in a lounge while you wait at the airport is sure to make the start of your trip even more pleasant.

There are several types of lounges, each with different terms of use and services. In this article, we will introduce the services and how to use the lounges at Fukuoka Airport, the gateway to Kyushu.

Whether you travel or go on business trips frequently or are a first-time airport user, why not try using the lounge to make your time at the airport more comfortable?

Airport lounges can be broadly divided into two categories:

  • Card Lounge
  • Airline Lounges

Each service has different usage methods and service contents, so we will explain them below.

Card Lounge

Card lounges are available to credit card members, and are generally available to those with gold cards or above. Airport lounge operators are managed in partnership with card companies.

The types of credit cards that can be used are not standardized across all lounges. Fukuoka Airport has three card lounges, but the lounges you can use vary depending on the credit card you have, which we will explain later.

When using the service, you will need to present the applicable credit card and proof of boarding on the day. Some credit cards also allow companions to use the service for free, making it convenient for traveling with friends or partners.

The main free services offered at the card lounge are as follows:

  • Soft drinks provided
  • Use of a computer
  • Reading newspapers and magazines
  • Use of wireless LAN (Wi-Fi)

In most cases, there is a charge for services such as meals, alcohol, and massages. Terms of use vary depending on the lounge, so be sure to check in advance.

There are many types of credit cards that are eligible for use, and there are also lounges that anyone can use by paying the set fee, even if they do not have a qualifying credit card.

Many card lounges can be used after arrival, so they can be used in a variety of situations, such as if you arrive at the airport early, or if you have time after arriving at the airport before heading to your destination.

Airline Lounges

Airline lounges operated by airlines are lounges available to airline elite members and passengers flying business class or first class.

Compared to card lounges, airline lounges tend to offer not only soft drinks, but also food and alcohol for free. When using these lounges, you can enter by showing proof of your premium membership and boarding class at the reception.

Some lounges have dedicated check-in counters, allowing you to check in more smoothly than usual. Most airline lounges are located close to the boarding gate, so you can relax right up until the boarding gate.

Only a limited number of people are allowed inside, and each space offers services that reflect the unique attention to detail of each airline, making it a space where you can experience a special trip.

There are two card lounges in the domestic terminal at Fukuoka Airport.
