A hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan where you can relax and enjoy local New York beer on tap
The Jeffery Craft Beer & Bites

The Jeffery Craft Beer & Bites
The Jeffery Craft Beer & Bites is a beer bar with great access when touring the classic Manhattan routes such as Fifth Avenue, Central Park, and MoMA. Hidden under the Queensboro Bridge, the bar has a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the "Main Bar" where you can enjoy 20 types of local tap beer, there is also a "Cocktail Lab" where you can enjoy cocktails and espresso made with beer.

Old photographs are displayed inside the store. This one was taken in front of the store in 1922.
The extensive menu includes bar food such as oysters and charcuterie (processed meats such as pate and bacon), as well as a variety of sandwiches, and shows the bar's commitment to quickly responding to the ever-evolving needs of the beer industry. It's surprising that the bar has only been open for three years, given its warm interior. Weddings and other events are also held in the open backyard. It's a great place to come and soothe your senses after the city's excitement, but it's also hard to give up the luxury of mingling with the locals from mid-afternoon.

There are 20 taps lined up on the counter, making it hard to choose

Although there are two separate entrances for the "Main Bar" and the "Cocktail Lab," they are connected by a large space at the back.

If you've been shopping on the Lower East Side or enjoyed the classic downtown atmosphere, this bar is definitely worth a visit. Its clean, pop-style appearance will have you comfortably drawn in even during the day. The glass case at the back of the bar is lined with beers from all over the world that you can drink in or take home. The owner, Ted Kennedy, was formerly the sales manager at Anheuser-Busch (a major American beer manufacturer known for Budweiser), and he uses his knowledge to hold various events and lectures. We recommend ordering a "flight," a tasting set that lets you compare four types of tap beer, mainly from breweries on the East Coast.

With the help of a friendly bartender, you can create the flight that suits you best.
Tap beer is available in growlers (bottles for taking home) or in cans made with a somewhat unusual canning machine. Bar snacks include cheese and charcuterie from the nearby Essex Street Market, which is charming in that they value local flavor.

A famous store where you can relax and enjoy core beers such as vegetable beer
The Owl Farm

The Owl Farm
If you want to experience even more local color and creativity, head to Brooklyn. The Owl Farm's menu features unique beer styles, including sours, barrel-aged, fruit and vegetable beers, and you can feel the playfulness of the bar and its brewers. There are 28 taps in total, some of which are for cider (apple wine). There are three sizes to order, so you'll want to try a variety of them in small glasses.

It's also fun to try different beers with interesting names.
In addition to the taps, there are many other items that pique your curiosity, such as bottled cider, rare bottled beer, and Fernet Branca, an Italian bitter liqueur that is said to be the most bitter in the world. With such a wide variety of menu items, the lack of food makes it feel refreshing and relaxed. The lighting in the bar is dim, and the pinball machine faintly glowing in the back conveys the laid-back atmosphere of the good old upscale Park Slope neighborhood. Whether you're an expert on beer or not, this is a place where you can enjoy a wide range of flavors, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The dimly lit interior creates a lively yet relaxed atmosphere.

An all-purpose bar and restaurant with a brewery attached
Threes Brewing

Threes Brewing
The diversity of the beer itself is important, but the diversity of the spaces that have been created around it is also surprising. While many breweries simply emphasize their individuality, this brewery focuses on a narrow style and strives to create beers that are not too strong and that make you want to keep drinking. As the brewery is attached to a bar and restaurant, the freshness of the beer is outstanding. There is also an extensive cocktail and wine menu, and at the entrance to the restaurant, you can order food provided by The Meat Hook, which is famous for its high-quality meat.

Food comes from The Meat Hook, a Brooklyn butcher shop that stocks high-quality meat from local farms.

The bar room attached to the brewery not only serves fresh beer but also has a full cocktail menu.
The first room in the long, vertical space from the entrance to the back is a diner, the second room is a bar and restaurant, and the third room is a lovely backyard with ivy-patterned wallpaper and lighting, allowing you to enjoy each room's atmosphere. In addition to the luxury of having a brewery on-site, the wide range of options makes it appealing and makes you want to come back again right away.

A pure space for surfers to continue making the beer they love
Rockaway Brewing Company

Rockaway Brewing Company
Long Island City has been developing and becoming more and more fashionable recently. Located just east of Manhattan across the East River, this area has beautiful scenery and townscapes, and is peaceful. In 2013, surfers from Rockaway Beach, who used to make beer for themselves, set up a brewery and bar in a corner of this area. Many fans are attached to the free-spirited and easy-going atmosphere and DIY feel reminiscent of Brooklyn in the 1990s. As the number of shops that are produced in every corner increases, shops that continue to do what they want are rare.

The DIY-style taproom is filled with local beer lovers who gather early in the day. It's nice to see everyone just hanging out.
Of course the beer is delicious, and their great value flight of four beers out of a wide range of eight styles is also popular. If you just want to relax and enjoy some good beer, this is the place for you.

Brewery tours are held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and are recommended for those who want to get closer to beer.
