Enjoy Kyoto soba noodles handed down from generation to generation at Sobadokoro Masutomi
Dashi is one of the essential elements in creating the flavor of Kyoto cuisine. Soba noodles eaten with specially selected dashi is exceptional.

Masutomi is a soba restaurant founded in 1953 at Sanjo Shirakawabashi, about a two-minute walk from Higashiyama Station. It is a historic soba restaurant that has continued to preserve the taste handed down from its predecessors.

The room at the back is a sunken kotatsu where you can relax and unwind. You can enjoy the view of the Shirakawa River from the large windows, and time passes quietly.

The Kyoto specialty "Nishin Soba (1,200 yen)" has an impressive visual of a large herring popping out of the bowl! The herring is moderately fatty and cooked to a gentle sweetness, with a moist texture. The herring flavor permeates the gentle broth, allowing you to enjoy the flavor of this herring soba.

All of the soba noodles are milled in-house using a stone mill, using 28% buckwheat flour. By mixing fragrant soba noodles with sticky soba noodles, the noodles are fragrant and chewy. They even change the way they grind and mix depending on the season and weather.

The "Kamo-seiro Soba (1,300 yen)" is a popular dish that allows you to enjoy chewy Omi duck, duck soup, and flavorful soba noodles. The soba noodles are short and flat, and have a grainy appearance. They have a slightly rough texture, and the more you chew them, the more flavorful and sweet the soba becomes.

The duck soup, with the aroma of Japanese pepper and yuzu, is filled with chunks of Omi duck and accented with Kujo green onions. The thick duck meat is firm and juicy! The duck soup brings out the flavor of the duck and has a sharp yet gentle aftertaste that envelops the duck and soba noodles.
Enjoy the taste of soba noodles that have been handed down for generations while taking in the view of Shirakawa River.
