A rental car is essential for traveling to Okinawa. Since it's your honeymoon, you'll want to select a cool-looking imported car. West Coast, a rental shop specializing in imported and luxury cars, has a wide variety of high-end imported cars, including American cars, convertibles, special limited edition cars, and shiny new cars.

What's more, at West Coast, you can have your rental car delivered to Naha Airport or your hotel and then picked up, so there's no need to visit the store.

From Naha City to your hotel in the north, drive north on National Route 58, which runs through the main island of Okinawa. On the way, we recommend stopping off in Chatan Town, a town with a strong American influence.

Chatan Park Sunset Beach, adjacent to Mihama American Village, a shopping area modeled after the American West Coast, is a popular beach not only with tourists but also with local couples and families. Not only can you enjoy swimming and BBQs, but it is also one of the best sunset spots in Okinawa Prefecture, and many people visit to watch the sun sink into the East China Sea.

As you stroll along the white sand beach, watching the locals enjoying themselves at the seaside, you'll want to take some commemorative photos. "Next time, let's come and see the sunset," you promised each other, and snapped a photo together!

A stay that feels good (kafu) at "Kafū Resort Fuchaku Condo Hotel"

As we enjoyed the drive and felt the Okinawan breeze, we finally arrived at the hotel. The honeymoon is the beginning of a journey for the couple who will be walking together for the rest of their lives. The place we chose as the base for this trip was the Kafuu Resort Fuchaku Condo Hotel in Fuchaku, Onna Village, one of Okinawa's leading resort areas.

Kafu means "good fortune" in the Okinawan dialect. It is a very auspicious word meaning "happiness" or "good news."

We were greeted with warm hospitality and shown to the Kafuu Suite, located on the 12th floor penthouse floor of the hotel. Below us spread out the beautiful emerald blue ocean, reflecting the sunlight.

The open, relaxing atmosphere of the room and the spacious terrace are even equipped with a jetted bath. Relaxing at this hotel is sure to deepen your relationship.

During the summer, the Beach House opens on Fuchaku Beach, a natural beach right in front of the hotel, and is available exclusively to guests staying at the hotel. The facility is equipped with showers and changing rooms, as well as beach umbrellas, beach chairs, towels, and swim rings, so you can head to the beach empty-handed from the hotel.

It's great that it's open from 8am until one hour after sunset. Free drinks are served in the rest area, so you can spend some luxurious time relaxing on the terrace with a great view between beach time or walks.

Kafuu Resort Fuchaku Condo Hotel

Enjoy a Hawaiian-style brunch at "MORNING WORKS"

If you wake up a little later, you can enjoy a leisurely brunch at a cafe popular among locals. "MORNING WORKS," located in a residential area of Kadena Town, is an ALL DAY BREAKFAST restaurant that serves Hawaiian pancakes and other dishes.

The menu we ordered that day was the "Works plate" (1,650 yen) topped with bacon, eggs, avocado, and chicken, and the "Hawaiian sweet plate" (1,350 yen) topped with whipped cream and plenty of fruits such as bananas, pineapples, and mangoes. Both are very filling, so you might be a little worried about whether you can finish them all, but there is no need to worry. The pancakes are just the right amount of sweet, fluffy and chewy, and surprisingly go well with both savory and sweet dishes. The chef apparently went through a lot of trial and error to arrive at this texture and flavor.

Besides pancakes, you can also choose waffles or French toast as the base. You can also add toppings to your liking, so it's fun to find your own customization. You can enjoy the "Aloha" feeling while feasting on Hawaiian cuisine.

Find Yachimun to decorate your dinner table and a special souvenir at Sorail

Your honeymoon trip is nearing the end. If you want to buy souvenirs that you can use on a daily basis, head to a select shop where you can find local crafts. Sorail, located in Zakimi, Yomitan Village, is packed with yachimun (Okinawan pottery), glass, and handmade works by artists from around the prefecture that the owner, Nagisa Arakaki, has actually used and found to be good.

There are so many items that you just want to pick up, such as a beautiful cobalt blue cup reminiscent of the ocean of Okinawa, or a cute dish with a cat peeking out. It's hard to decide which one to choose, but we have a lot of fun imagining how we'll use them at home, saying things like, "I could use this one every day," or "But this design is nice too."

The owner, Arakaki-san, is also a candle artist. His Yachimun Candles (R) (3,630 yen), which are homemade aroma candles set in Yachimun pottery, are very popular as souvenirs and gifts.

Encountering handmade crafts is truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you find something that catches your eye, use your JAL Card. Every time you look at the tableware or miscellaneous goods you bought, you'll be reminded of your fun honeymoon.
