Kamakura Komachi-dori is full of restaurants serving side dishes made with Kamakura specialties. Why not enjoy the flavors of Kamakura as a snack with the popular Kamakura beer, instead of lunch?
Kamakura Yatai Mura: A seafood restaurant that takes pride in its eel dashi rolls

"Eel dashi roll skewers" 638 yen
Kamakura Yatai Mura is a shop on Kamakura Komachi Street that exudes an atmosphere reminiscent of a fish market. The entrance is bustling with activity, with seafood beach-grilled and sake on sale, and the inside of the shop is bustling with customers even during the day.

This is a stand-up eatery with several food stalls lined up, where you can casually enjoy the bounty of the mountains and the sea. One thing worth mentioning is the "eel rolled skewer" served at the seafood bowl stall. The combination of the mildly flavored egg and the rich, fragrant grilled eel is exquisite.

In addition to the seafood rolls, there is also the "Shirasu rolls" (748 yen) topped with plenty of Shonan specialties. The first glass of sake in the store is sold at the bargain price of 100 yen, so we recommend pairing it with the sake.

Experience the fragrant aroma of freshly baked rice crackers! "Kamakura Ichibanya Komachi-dori"

"Nori Senbei" 150 yen
If you smell a fragrant aroma coming from somewhere, it's probably the hand-baked rice crackers at Kamakura Ichibanya Komachi-dori. This shop offers three types of freshly baked rice crackers: soy sauce, seaweed, and brown sugar.
Among them, the "nori senbei" wrapped in nori seaweed from the seaweed shop run by comedian Tetsuro Degawa's family is characterized by its large pieces of seaweed that are large enough to hide the rice crackers. This is a delicious dish with a fragrant soy sauce and the flavor of seaweed.

It's also fun to watch the baking process.

The souvenir pack of your favorite rice crackers is very popular.
It takes a little time to heat the charcoal, so if you want to eat freshly grilled rice crackers, the best time to come is between 1pm and 4pm. Be sure to try the hand-roasted rice crackers, which have become less common recently.

Desserts that will leave you feeling delighted and eaten in one go
Many of the sweets on Kamakura Komachi Street are elegantly sweet, so even those who don't like sweet things will enjoy eating them while walking around. They also make perfect souvenirs, so why not share your delicious memories?
A new staple from Toshimaya, the maker of Hato Sable! Hand-baked waffles are a must-try

"Waffle with red bean paste and butter Hato Sable" 350 yen
A classic souvenir from Kamakura is the "Hato Sable." It is a famous confectionery by Toshimaya, which was founded in 1894 (Meiji 27), but the store also offers other masterpieces of Japanese and Western sweets, one of which is "Waffle," which was created in the early Showa period. "Toshimaya Setokoji" is a shop that serves this traditional masterpiece in a hand-baked style. It opened in 2022 along Kamakura Komachi-dori.

This is the only place where you can choose the flavor of the filling, freshly baked. There are 10 flavors, including "Azuki bean paste" (250 yen), "Fresh cream" (250 yen), and "Cream cheese" (280 yen). There are also a wide variety of toppings, but the shop's recommendation is "Waffle Azuki bean paste + Hato Sable Butter" (350 yen).

The fluffy dough and the gently sweet smooth bean paste are perfectly matched with the butter that brings out the rich milky flavor and saltiness. It's light and easy to eat, so it's fun to order multiple pieces and compare the different flavors.

There is a space with high tables on the second floor where you can enjoy your meal. The traditional "Waffle" (220 yen) with apricot jam is individually wrapped, so it makes a great souvenir. "Hato Sable" and other sweets can also be purchased individually, so be sure to stop by.

Take a break with a drink between eating and walking
Kamakura also has some noteworthy drink spots! If you feel like taking a break from your food tour, why not stop by here for a drink?
When walking around the ancient capital, try some custom-made tea at "Hatoya Kamakura"

"Hatoya Shake" (900 yen) topped with "Brown Sugar" (+50 yen) and "Foam Matcha" (+350 yen)
Hatoya Kamakura is a Japanese tea stand located in an easily accessible location, just a minute's walk from the west exit of Kamakura Station. The flagship store, Hatoya Ryoyosha, is located in Arashiyama, Kyoto, and the Kamakura store opened in 2023, following its store in Asakusa, Tokyo.

The menu mainly consists of lattes and sweets made with tea leaves from Kyoto, and the drinks also come with a wide variety of toppings, such as ice cream and foam matcha. From the menu, I ordered a custom "Hatoya Shake." Foam matcha is a mousse made from matcha, fresh cream, and raw sugar (the first thing made to make sugar) using an espuma machine, and its rich texture goes well with the crisp shake.

Their specialty latte is the standard matcha, but they also have hojicha and Japanese black tea, each priced from 700 yen. We recommend a hot drink to warm you up on a cold day. There is also a standing eat-in space inside the store, so it's a good idea to stop by there too. The dignified-looking drinks made with tea are perfect for walking around the ancient city of Kamakura.

CHABAKKA TEA PARKS: A Japanese tea select shop where you can enjoy the deliciousness of tea

Located near Kamakura Station, CHABAKKA TEA PARKS is the first place in Japan to serve draft tea, poured from a beer server.
Draft tea is cold-brewed sencha tea that is mixed with nitrogen to create bubbles. It is not carbonated, but has a refreshing taste.

Draft tea is self-service
They use Kagoshima's Asatsuyu tea leaves. It's refreshing yet slightly sweet, and you can enjoy the taste just like beer. You can drink it in the shop, or you can get a takeaway cup, so you can take it home if you can't finish it.

This shop offers not only draft tea, but also teas from all over Japan, tea cocktails, and a surprising variety of ways to drink tea. Another great thing about this shop is that you can bring in food from other shops.
