9:30 "Seiganji Temple" Pray for beautiful skin at the powdered Jizo statue
In ancient times, Tamazukuri was a production area for magatama. The magatama made from fine blue agate found at Mount Kasenzan in Tamazukuri are of the highest quality in Japan. In addition, the hot springs are mentioned in the Izumo no Kuni Fudoki, written in the Nara period, as being good for the skin.
It is the largest hot spring resort in Shimane Prefecture, where skin-beautifying hot springs still gush forth.
The Tamayu River flows through the middle of the hot spring town, and a refreshing river breeze blows.
Located in this hot spring town is Seiganji Temple, which is said to have been founded in 1637 (Kan'ei 14). The history of the temple is unclear, and it is said that it was here even before that.
This is where the "Oshiroi Jizo" statue, which has been carefully protected by locals since ancient times, is enshrined.
It all started when a local woman smeared rice dumpling powder on the Jizo statue a long time ago, and since then, it has been said to have the power to improve skin condition. People have started praying for things that are bad for their body, not just their face, and it has become a popular spot.
Take the powder under the Jizo statue with a brush and apply it to the area you want to heal. You can also paint parts of the face and body charms with color and pray for healing from various illnesses. You can also purchase amulets for beautiful skin.
Surrounded by the abundant nature, I quietly put my hands together and expressed my gratitude to the main hall and Jizo statue, then left the temple with a peaceful feeling.

11:00 Walk around Tamazukuri Onsen town. There are many photo spots in the town.
Tamatsukuri Onsen Town is lined with inns, souvenir shops, restaurants, and more, stretching for about 1.5 kilometers. Tamatsukuri is a place where you can enjoy a stroll while stopping at many facilities. There are many picturesque spots and places where you can enjoy the hot springs.
The first place we visited was the Yuyakushi Square. Here you can bottle the hot spring water that gushes out from the basin of the Magatama object and take it home with you. Bottles can be purchased for 200 yen, and the hot spring water has a shelf life of 5 days.
You can experience the benefits of hot springs at home by giving the skin-beautifying water a quick spritz after your bath or when finishing your makeup.
The Yuyakushido temple, from which the temple takes its name, is also nearby. Here you will find a rare bell that is said to have crossed the sea, had a strange fate, and returned.
If you're visiting, why not try a foot bath?
You can soak your feet in the river or at Himegami Square.
At Himegami Square, the history of Tamatsukuri Onsen, which has been passed down since ancient times, is explained in an easy-to-understand manner. There is a roof so you can relax and enjoy the hot spring foot bath.
Towels are also available for purchase, so you don't have to worry.
Tamazukuri has many photogenic spots and scenery that will make you want to take pictures.
There are stands available here and there for placing your smartphone or camera. In Tamatsukuri, there are nine bronze statues with mythological motifs, and each one has a stand perfectly positioned to take the best shot. These bronze statues are the work of Yabuuchi Satoshi, who is well known for "Sento-kun," and they depict the world of mythology in a humorous and easy-to-understand way.
It's also fun to explore the many unique bridges that span the Tamayu River. Taking a photo of a cute bridge with the hot spring town in the background will surely be a memorable one.
This information is provided in the brochures of each facility and on their official websites, along with easy-to-understand maps.
In addition to the spots introduced above, there are many other spots in Tamazukuri Onsen town that you can enjoy in a variety of ways.

"Bathtub" is a magatama-shaped object located in "Yuyakushi Square."

Purchase colorful bottles (200 yen each).

Fill a spray bottle with fresh hot spring water from the tub.

You can take home some of the moisturizing hot spring water.

We also visited the Yuyakushido Hall.

During the post-war chaos, this bell was sent across the sea from Tamazukuri to the Oki Islands, where it was used as a half-bell. It has now returned to Tamazukuri and is now hanging in the Yuyakushido Hall.

A view of the Tamayu River flowing through the hot spring town.

Many unique bridges are built over the Tamayu River, making it a popular photo spot.

The Magatama Bridge is based on the motif of a blue agate magatama.

In front of Tamazukuri Art Box is a unique illustration of the "Sparkling Bridge."

How about trying a free foot bath in the hot spring town?

The foot bath at Himegami Square is a popular spot that always draws visitors.

Towels are also available for sale.

In the town of Tamatsukuri Onsen, there is a bronze statue depicting a famous scene from the Izumo mythology. This is the "White Rabbit of Inaba."

You can take the best shots by shooting from a stand with a picture of a camera on it.

12:30 Healthy lunch using local ingredients and Shimane tableware at "Hokkori Shokudo Tsunagarune"
This hot spring town restaurant and cafe serves lunch using local ingredients, and although it may be small, it offers a menu of dishes that are carefully made and have a homemade feel.
"Hokkori Shokudo Tsunagaru Ne" took over a restaurant that had been operating as an izakaya and reopened as a restaurant. Popular set meals and curry doria are popular, and they are characterized by their gentle flavors, made without chemical seasonings and using local vegetables and ingredients.
The set meal for this day included small dishes such as salads and vegetables, as well as chicken stewed in tomato sauce. The rice was made from 70% polished rice that was polished that morning and cooked in a kettle. The cocotte, made with healthy free-range eggs from Unnan City, Shimane Prefecture, made by the nationally acclaimed Egg Baker at Yumachigama, a pottery studio in the same area, was also a delight. Many dishes from potters within the prefecture are used, so it's a good idea to ask about any designs or tableware that catch your eye.
The food and service will have you smiling, and as the name suggests, this is a restaurant that will make you feel warm and relaxed.
For takeout, we tried the handmade tofu donuts. They come in three varieties: plain, cinnamon, and kinako. They are soft and chewy, satisfying, and simply delicious.

"Hokkori Shokudo Tsunagaru Ne" serves healthy lunches.

When you sit at the counter, you will see a large selection of pottery from Shimane potters right in front of you!

This is the volume of the set meal that day. It was only 880 yen.

The food is handmade and made without any artificial seasonings, has a gentle taste, and is healthy with plenty of vegetables.

"Egg cocotte" made in the egg baker at Yumachigama in Tamazukuri.

I definitely want to buy some of the fluffy and chewy tofu donuts to take home.

The shop is surrounded by illustrations in a corner of a hot spring town.

14:00 Shopping in the hot spring town. Hot spring water cosmetics from "Hime Labo" and tomato juice from "Yaoyorozu Market"
There are many souvenir shops in Tamatsukuri Onsen town, where you can find many souvenirs from Shimane. Not only can you have beautiful skin in the hot springs, but you can also buy souvenirs that will make your skin beautiful.
Hime Labo sells cosmetics made with Tamazukuri Onsen water.
After studying the hot spring water of Tamatsukuri, it was found that it dramatically increases the moisture content of the skin, refines the skin texture, improves the complexion, and expels dead skin cells and melanin, resulting in an ideal skin tone. This led to the creation of cosmetics using Tamatsukuri hot spring water, also known as a "natural skin lotion."
Hime Labo has a wide selection of cosmetics that you will want to try, including new products that were launched last year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the store's founding. There are many cosmetics made with hot spring water, but specialty stores are rare nationwide. Cosmetics made with the skin-beautifying hot spring water that Shimane is proud of are perfect as souvenirs.
In particular, the popular all-in-one gel, foaming net, and other set items are perfect as gifts and souvenirs, and many people buy multiple items. The facial soap that lathers well is also the most popular, and is available in small sizes, making it the perfect souvenir.
It's a luxury to be able to use hot springs, a gift from nature, every day. These hot spring water cosmetics are easy to buy for yourself or for friends.
Next on our list is Yaoyorozu Market, where you can buy delicious Shimane processed foods and crafts. The store is run by a company that specializes in package design and product development.
What we would like to introduce here is premium tomato juice made with cherry tomatoes grown in Higashiizumo-cho, Matsue City.
The juice, carefully made in-store, takes advantage of the soft skin of cherry tomatoes and uses the whole fruit. No additives such as water or salt are used, and the juice is made only from tomatoes, so you can enjoy a rich and pure taste. This year, rare yellow cherry tomatoes have also been introduced, resulting in a colorful lineup of two different tomato juices. Due to its popularity and production cannot keep up with demand, it can only be purchased at the shop in Tamatsukuri Onsen.
They also offer sodas, ice cream, and jellies made with the rare "Golden Pearl Melon."
This is a shop that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for unique souvenirs that are made using Matsue's precious materials and can't be found anywhere else.

We went to Hime Labo, which sells skin care products made with Tamazukuri Onsen water.

In the store, you can shop while listening carefully to product explanations.

Popular products include "Hime Labo Soap," "All-in-one Gel," and "Essence Lotion."

Yaoyorozu Market is where you can find Matsue's finest products.
