北川村を含む中芸地域は2017年4月に「森林鉄道から日本一のゆずロードへ」として日本遺産に認定されました。かつて木材を運ぶための魚梁瀬森林鉄道が中芸一帯を環状に駆け巡っていましたが、中岡慎太郎が栽培を奨励したとされるゆずが今では林業にかわる産業として日本一の生産量を誇っています。「森林鉄道」から「ゆずロード」をぐるりと巡ればゆずの香りと彩りに満ちた景観とゆずの風味豊かな食文化を満喫できます。馬路村魚梁瀬では、往時の機関車などが復元され、乗車・運転体験ができます。
