On the third day, we started the morning off at The Sun Kurano, a popular local sweets shop. Located about a seven-minute drive from Asahikawa Station, the shop's stylish stone exterior is a landmark. The shop is a brand of Roba Kashitsukasa, which produces sweets made with ingredients from Hokkaido.

Inside the store, you'll find a wide selection of sweets, including Kuranama, a fresh chocolate sable, Kamamushi Kura Manju, made in the adjacent Kamamushi Workshop, bread, cakes, and more. You'll be overwhelmed by all the tempting products.

10:20 Be amazed by the magnificent scenery at Asahikawa's photogenic spot, "Jujitsu Hill"

After purchasing the sweets, we headed to "Jujitsu-no-Oka" to take in the typical Hokkaido scenery. This is a hilly area with a view of the rollercoaster-like ups and downs of the road, the city of Asahikawa, the Daisetsuzan mountain range, and the Tokachi-dake mountain range.

Shujitsu Hill, which has also been used as a filming location for a popular TV drama, is not developed as a tourist destination, so you can hear the birds and the wind in a quiet environment without being disturbed by artificial sounds.

Quietly immerse yourself in the scenery and atmosphere that can only be found in Asahikawa.

11:20 Be dazzled by the mystical scenery of the "Shirogane Blue Pond" in the Biei area

After enjoying the hills, head to Shirogane Blue Pond, which attracted worldwide attention when it was featured as a wallpaper by Apple in 2012. This pond, which formed by chance next to the Biei River, is a fantastical spot with a beautiful contrast between the cobalt blue water surface and the forest. The color of the pond changes depending on the time of day and season.

There is a shop next to the pond where they sell products themed around the Blue Pond, such as Ramune-flavored "Blue Pond Soft Serve Ice Cream," "Blue Pond Pudding," and "Blue Pond Cider," so why not buy some as a memento of your visit?

12:15 Enjoy dishes made with Biei ingredients at "Dagurasufah," a homemade pasta specialty shop

After enjoying the beautiful view of the Shirogane Blue Pond, head to "Dagurasufah," where you can enjoy homemade pasta made with wheat grown in Biei.

The pasta at this shop is made with "red wheat," a type of wheat that has been revived by local volunteers, and eggs from Asahikawa are kneaded into it, resulting in a chewy texture. Pasta that comes with plenty of fresh homemade vegetables and moist, fluffy chiffon cake are also popular.

Hokkaido squirrels, rabbits, and Ezo red foxes sometimes visit the shop. Such chance encounters are an experience that can only be found in Hokkaido.

13:30 Hillside Walk: Enjoy some cool sweets while looking out over the hills of Biei at "Gelato Workshop Oka no Milje"

"Oka no Mirje" is built on a hill where cute sheep leisurely graze. Here, you can enjoy gelato made with fresh milk produced at Ura Farm in Biei Town. You can also enjoy a view of the sheep and the hills of Biei, creating a relaxing and soothing experience.

They also have soft serve ice cream made only with high-quality raw milk and sugar beet, and the most popular is the "combination of soft serve ice cream and gelato." The gelato you can enjoy in this idyllic atmosphere is exceptional.

14:30 Take in the panoramic view of Biei at Kitasei-no-Oka Observation Park

The last stop on the trip is Kitasei no Oka Observatory Park in Biei. The cute pyramid-shaped observation deck offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Daisetsuzan mountain range.

In addition to lavender, salvia, sunflowers, poppies, and cosmos are planted, and the observation deck is surrounded by flowers. In front of the park is the "Patchwork Road," where the colorful scenery typical of Biei spreads out before your eyes.

Make sure to burn this magnificent view into your memory as you head home as the final memory of your trip.

We headed to Asahikawa Airport, and our 3-day, 2-night trip around the Asahikawa area came to an end.

This trip was centered around Asahikawa, Kamikawa, and Biei. It was a course that combined the best of both worlds, allowing you to enjoy the great outdoors of Hokkaido while also visiting popular tourist spots.
