In this article, we asked families who were planning to travel during spring break or Golden Week to draw a "Future Picture Diary" for their children. Let's share the power of dreaming about travel through the pictures that the children drew of places they wanted to go to this spring, places they have visited in the past, and places they want to travel to in the future.
1. A treasure hunt in the great outdoors
The first group was a family with two boys, ages 6 and 2.
The older brother, who loves collecting rocks, dreams of a rock-collecting adventure.
Collecting turquoise in Cappadocia (Türkiye)

My brother loves rocks so much that when he finds a rare rock, he looks it up in an illustrated book. He picks up rocks he finds on the street or in the garden, so there are rocks rolling out of his pockets and bag every day.
One of the stones that the older brother is looking for is turquoise. When his mother asked him where he could find it, she showed him a guidebook about Turkey, and he fell in love with the scenery of Cappadocia at first sight. "There's such a beautiful place! There seems to be a lot of treasures! I'm going there!" he said with shining eyes.
When she went on a trip to Turkey, she was excited to see "Kappa's Rock Houses (the cave dwellings of Cappadocia), beautiful hot air balloons, and find lots of turquoise!"

2. A trip to meet your favorite animals
The second family is from Cebu, Philippines.
They are a 9-year-old girl attending primary school in Cebu and a 6-year-old boy who just graduated from kindergarten; a brother and sister who love animals.
Swimming with whale sharks (Cebu, Philippines)

After her brother's graduation ceremony, she was planning to go on a trip to Oslob with her family. "In Oslob, located on the south side of Cebu Island, you can swim with the huge whale sharks. I'll come and see them again!" she said, looking forward to their next trip. Turtles and jellyfish are also drawn, and you can see how she dreams of everyone swimming together in harmony.

Riding on an elephant (Phuket, Thailand)

She drew a picture of riding a big elephant with her mom on a mountain trail. "It was rockier than I thought it would be, and more fun! I gave a banana to the baby elephant, and I was surprised to see him munching it down with the skin on." Note the shop that is clearly drawn in the background. Ice cream is definitely the perfect snack.
