A variety of events to enhance your California mood even before boarding
Although it was still cold, many customers had gathered at the domestic check-in counter at Narita Airport by 10:15, the meeting time. 135 customers were boarding this flight. Mock passports were distributed at the reception, helping to get the customers in the mood for traveling abroad.
This tour was made possible through a team effort between JAL, American Airlines, and the California Tourism Board, and special events will also be held just for this day.

After checking in, we proceeded to the departure counter exclusively for tour participants. We had our mock passports stamped and then we set off for California in the sky.

Once you pass through security and enter the boarding gate, you will be served a welcome drink of cold-pressed juice from "DAVID OTTO JUICE," a California-based cold-pressed juice specialty store. Choose from three types: the most popular vegetable juice "GREEN GENIE," "APPLE" made from whole apples, and the gently sweet "APPLE BLUEBERRY COCONUT."

There was a photo spot set up inside the boarding gate to give you a California feel. Driving in an open-top car while looking at the Golden Gate Bridge will help you forget the cold of winter.

If you combine the answers to the three questions, it becomes one word...!

Next to the photo booth is a quiz corner, where you can take a quiz about various aspects of California, such as the state's area, maximum temperature, number of wineries, etc.
Special talk show with world-famous guitarist MIYAVI
At the boarding gate, a talk show was held with special guest MIYAVI, American Airlines brand ambassador.
For MIYAVI, who has lived in Los Angeles, California is "a place I can call my second hometown." He shares many of California's charms, saying, "The sun's power is strong, and it feels good to drive along the coast," and "The oranges, strawberries, and other fruits are big and sweet."

"California has a lot of restaurants serving delicious Japanese food, and there are also many spots where you can hear great music, such as artists performing on the streets and great live music venues, so if you are able to go, I hope you will enjoy it," he said, offering some recommendations based on his experience living there.
As the conversation turned to international flights, she shared some familiar anecdotes, saying, "Flying is a battle against swelling. The in-flight meals are delicious so I can't help but eat, but I try to cut down on the salt as much as possible," and "I can't move my body while on the plane, so I go to the toilet and stretch."
"Traveling enriches the soul, and I believe that people grow as they make new encounters. Until this COVID-19 pandemic is over, let's enjoy special events like today and keep up the good work," said MIYAVI, and the talk show came to a close.
Try a game from America while you wait for your flight

As the time for my flight approached, I went down to the first floor of the boarding gate, where I noticed a long line. Beyond that was "cornhole," where you throw a bag full of corn into a hole. It's a familiar game in American households, but it's surprisingly difficult. From small children to the elderly, everyone was happy or sad depending on the outcome of the game.

Next to the bus taking the customers from the boarding gate to the plane, JAL ground service staff performed a dance, sending off the customers with a pop dance that expressed the vividness of California.

Before the boarding announcement, Marjorie Dewey from the California Tourism Board gave a speech.
"It's cloudy today, but I think that once you clear the clouds you'll see blue skies. Enjoy plenty of California food and immerse yourself in the California Dream up in the sky."

When the passengers arrived at the plane on a special bus, they were greeted by JAL staff holding a banner. Now that online communication is mainstream, it was touching to see the warmth of real people.
