Walk through a beautiful flower market and experience the diversity of Dutch flowers
The Netherlands is known as one of the world's leading flower-producing countries, with floriculture being one of its main industries. Tulips, which bloom in all areas from April to May, are beloved as a beautiful flower that symbolizes the country. However, tulips are of course not the only flowers that adorn the Netherlands. Hyacinths, daffodils, orchids, irises and other colorful flowers bloom in the country.
If you want to experience the diversity of flowers in the Netherlands, the first place you should visit is the flower markets scattered throughout the country. For example, the "Floating Market" on the Singel Canal in Amsterdam is one of the most traditional flower markets in the Netherlands. A remnant of the time when flowers were transported by boat, countless types of flowers are still sold on barges. Also, the "Aalsmeer Flower Market" located on the outskirts of Amsterdam is a huge flower wholesale market known as the world's largest flower market. It is no exaggeration to say that the prices and trends of flowers around the world are born from this market. There is also an area where tourists can visit, so be sure to experience the excitement. In addition to these, there are many other attractive flower markets scattered throughout the Netherlands. Walk through a flower market surrounded by the scent of flowers and look at the colorful expressions of the flowers... You can enjoy a gorgeous stroll unique to the Netherlands to your heart's content.
Visit Keukenhof Gardens, where approximately 7 million flowers bloom
If you visit the Netherlands in spring, you'll want to see the flower fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. The place to head to when you want to do so is Keukenhof, the world's largest flower park, located just under an hour by bus from Amsterdam. The 32-hectare park is decorated with a wide variety of flowers, including 800 varieties of tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, roses, carnations, lilies, and more. It's amazing that there are a whopping 7 million flowers in total.
As you walk through the well-maintained gardens, you'll be treated to a beautiful panorama of flowers! You'll be captivated by the flower fields that stretch as far as the eye can see and the artworks made with flowers. There are also four pavilions with different personalities scattered throughout the park, including one that displays orchids and anthuriums, and another that displays lilies, so you'll be able to experience the charm of Dutch flowers beyond just tulips. There are also cycling routes around the park that take you around the flowers, so we recommend renting a bicycle and giving it a try.

By the way, this year's theme for the limited-time Keukenhof Gardens is "Dutch Design." Various events based on the concept of Dutch design are being held within the gardens. The gardens will be open from March 23rd to May 21st in 2017. Convenient tickets are also available that include a direct bus from Amsterdam or Schiphol Airport and admission fees, so be sure to take advantage of them!
Enjoy the Flower Parade, a seasonal sight in spring, decorated with colorful flowers
Many people in the Netherlands love flowers, regardless of age or gender. The Flower Parade, held every April, is an event that gives a sense of the national character. The parade runs from Noordwijk on the North Sea coast, through Keukenhof Gardens, to Haarlem, west of Amsterdam. The parade, which takes place over a 40km route, features 20 huge floats and 30 cars decorated with flowers such as daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths. They move slowly, drawing the spectators into a frenzy. When you look at the local volunteers involved in the management of the Flower Parade and the spectators who have come from all over the country, you can see that the Dutch people truly enjoy the flower season. Viewing the parade is free, so it is recommended that you head to the site a little early and secure a good spot.

Comment
If you travel to the Netherlands, where flower production is thriving, you will be able to see the vast bulb fields that spread all over the country. Many flowers bloom from these bulbs in the spring. The best time to see flowers varies depending on the type of flower, such as crocuses, which are usually in full bloom in late March, hyacinths in mid-April, and tulips in late April, so it is recommended to check in advance!
