A job that offers step-ups and rewarding work. How to become a CA?
Thanks to you, JAL accepts many applications for cabin attendant positions every year. The application process is the same as for other companies, with recruitment information posted on the website for new graduates and experienced employees, and applications are accepted.

After passing the selection process, flight attendants who join the company will receive basic training on safety and service and obtain flight qualifications. They start out on domestic flights, and even after obtaining their international flight qualifications, they will move up to economy class and then business class, honing their skills and sensibilities and continuing to grow.
While you will need to undergo safety training to protect our customers' lives and overcome difficult hurdles in order to provide high-quality service, it is also a job that is rewarding as you can work together with your colleagues to improve each other's skills through teamwork.

JAL Airline School is not just for those who want to become flight attendants, it is also useful for your career
JAL Airline School is supported by students and working adults who aspire to become flight attendants with these characteristics, as well as airport ground staff. The school offers four-day intensive courses and three-month regular courses, and can be taken at the JAL Sky Museum in Haneda Airport as well as at universities across the country.
Marushima: "JAL Airline School is open to anyone over the age of 18, including students and working adults. Through the curriculum, you will first gain a thorough understanding of who you are now. After that, you will think about where you want to be in the future, and current JAL employees will support you in clarifying what you need to do now to achieve that goal."

These were the words of Takuro Marushima, who plans and manages the event, drawing on his experience learning about "careers" as a part-time lecturer at university.
One of the things we do at the JAL Airline School is to have students face themselves from a broad perspective, asking themselves how they can work in their own way once they join a company. Then they clarify what they really want to become. In other words, this school is useful not only for those who want to work in the airline industry, but also for a variety of job hunting activities. In fact, looking at the employment records of students who have taken the course so far, they have received job offers from a wide range of industries.

Learnings that can be applied not only to the aviation industry but to a wide range of industries
Marushima: "A wide variety of people take the course, including students and working adults looking for a second career. In one case, a woman aiming to become a doctor took the course because she wanted to learn about empathy. We have also received many reports of graduates finding work in the service industry, such as hotels and bridal, as well as in finance and the media."
Michiyo Nakajima, a current flight attendant and instructor at the school, continues:

Nakajima: "The curriculum also teaches about the diversity of the aviation industry. By deepening this knowledge, there are cases where those who aspire to become flight attendants have actually received job offers in operational planning positions. We don't want people to narrow their horizons. We aim for this course to enable students to grasp the image of who they want to be when they enter society. Clarifying your own work style, diversity, and the challenges you want to take on will lead to a lively work life not only in the aviation industry, but in society as a whole."
JAL's unique curriculum based on the latest "human resource image" required in the current aviation industry

Nakajima: "When I was aiming to become a flight attendant, I imagined a professional who would ensure in-flight safety and provide high-quality service. However, things are completely different now. In addition to mastering flight attendant expertise, we are now required to take on a variety of challenges, such as launching new businesses, collaborating with other industries and promoting projects, and serving as part of the hometown support team that plays a role in revitalizing local areas. One of the features of this job is that it allows employees to thoroughly analyze themselves while being aware of this."

As a program unique to JAL, we also provide training to help participants imagine what it would be like to work there. For example, we offer a training experience serving drinks in the cabin. This allows participants to learn in a practical format how JAL staff approach service and safety on a daily basis.

Nakajima: "By understanding the work, you can realize that your motivation for wanting to work there is not just something you aspire to. Having this kind of experience helps you maintain motivation during the long period of job hunting. In addition, you will practice interviews with people who have experience as job interviewers at JAL. They will provide you with solid feedback, such as, 'This is what makes you attractive, and if you do this, your strengths will be conveyed even more.' Being able to know your own challenges is a big advantage."
Learning as a team and building bonds will help you become closer to the "desired person"
In this way, one of the defining features of JAL Airline School is that students can gain meaningful learning experience through courses based on the latest "type of human resources desired."

Nakajima: "People aiming for a career in the aviation industry often feel lonely because there are few people with the same aspirations around them and it is a difficult challenge to get into. We value an atmosphere of working together as a team to achieve the same goal. Even during the four-day intensive course, we were able to form bonds, share information, and encourage each other."
We will not specifically teach you beautiful manners and behavior.
One of the major learnings you can get at JAL Airline School is how to develop dignity by making the most of your strengths. A major feature of the curriculum is that you can create an atmosphere that will make you stand out as a member of society from within.

Nakajima: "Actually, we don't teach specific etiquette, like, 'Bow at this angle...' In fact, if we did that, it would lead to uniformity and could stifle individuality. Throughout the curriculum, we have students observe the posture and behavior of our instructors, and it's important for them to be conscious of how people they consider beautiful behave in their daily lives, and vice versa, and to learn from that."

By combining this with the aforementioned curriculum of "imagining the person you want to be and polishing your inner self," it is said that participants' appearances change dramatically.
Dignity comes from the inside. If you polish it, the reactions of those around you will definitely change.
Nakajima: "When I meet people again after six months or so at the brush-up courses we offer as last-minute preparation for interviews, I find that my impression of many of the participants has changed completely from before. By getting into the habit of thinking about your manners in your head, the way others see you changes. And the reactions you get are different too. The benefits of this are huge. All communication is based on the other person, so I think it's a powerful tool. By improving yourself, you can attract opportunities to yourself."

A dignified appearance comes from the inside and from the mind. Nakajima says that when he sees people who have truly mastered this get job offers, he feels as happy as if it were his own achievement.
Marushima: "When we think of manners, we think of them as a kind of technique, like elegance, but I think of them as a person's confidence itself. The reason why many of the courses in the curriculum have students face up to themselves is precisely to help them build self-confidence. By facing up to your own past, you are not comparing yourself to others, but rather focusing on yourself, which becomes a process that helps you build self-confidence."
