Learn about the town of Ginza
Ginza has long flourished as a city where the latest culture and products come together, and the term "Ginbura," which means "a leisurely stroll through the streets of Ginza," has been used since the Taisho era.

Even today, high-end brand boutiques, prestigious long-established shops, and luxury department stores line the street, with Chuo-dori between the landmark department stores "Wako" (left) and "Ginza Mitsukoshi" (right). On weekends, about 1km of Chuo-dori is opened to pedestrians as a pedestrian precinct (October to March 12:00 to 17:00 / April to September 12:00 to 18:00).
We will introduce five ways to enjoy Ginza based on these five themes. From the new standard large commercial facilities to hidden galleries, we hope you will enjoy your "Ginza Stroll" in your favorite way.
Enjoy Ginza to the fullest! Tourist Map
1. Enjoy a sophisticated space at the new standard large-scale commercial facility
Ginza is evolving day by day, and there are large commercial facilities that have been attracting a lot of attention since their opening in recent years and have become a staple. They are not only attractive for their shopping and gourmet food, but also for their unique style that features art and culture. Let us introduce "GINZA SIX," the largest commercial zone in Ginza, and "Tokyo Midtown Hibiya," located in the Hibiya area adjacent to Ginza.
"GINZA SIX" has everything from high-end brands to art

GINZA SIX is a place where you can enjoy shopping, eating, and seeing everything, including world-famous luxury brands, overseas-popular gourmet restaurants opening in Japan for the first time, Ginza's largest rooftop garden, and the Kanze Noh Theatre.

*The photo shows a past exhibition. The contents of the exhibition change depending on the season.
In order to propose a rich lifestyle where people can come into contact with art in everyday life, the building is characterized by the contemporary art works displayed throughout the building. The open atrium in the center of the building is a symbol of this. Dynamic installation works are displayed there, making a strong impact on people. The works are replaced regularly, so you can enjoy the interesting fact that the impression of the space itself changes depending on the work.
The food area on the second basement floor is home to new brands from long-established stores, as well as stores selling GINZA SIX exclusive products, making it a great place to look for stylish souvenirs.

Viennoiserie JEAN FRANÇOIS, which stocks Viennoiserie pastries, is selling the Double Cheesecake Danish (410 yen, tax included) as a GINZA SIX exclusive item. The crispy Danish is topped with a two-layered cheesecake, one rare and one baked, made with cream cheese from Hokkaido and France, creating an exquisite harmony. On the second floor, there is an open space called Mihara Terrace, which is recommended for taking a break and enjoying some sweet treats.

Enjoy a special time at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya opened in March 2018 as a new attraction in Hibiya. The elegant, streamlined building has 35 floors above ground and 4 floors below. The commercial area is home to gourmet restaurants opening for the first time in Japan and conceptual shops, offering a unique experience.

To the west of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is the lush Hibiya Park, and to create a space that is continuous with the surrounding environment, an aerial garden called the Park View Garden has been developed on the 6th floor. Planted with the same trees as Hibiya Park and with walkways, the garden is a relaxing spot that makes it hard to believe you are in a building in the city center.

"Drawing House of Hibiya" is a restaurant where you can enjoy high-quality meals in such a "Park View Garden". Based on the concept of "Experience the Japanese terroir", you can eat a dish made with "truly delicious ingredients" from all over Japan, allowing you to experience the rich soil of Japan. If you look out the window, you can see Hibiya Park and the Imperial Palace Gardens spreading out beyond the green garden... The location makes the food even more delicious.

2. Select limited edition sweets and souvenirs at a high-end department store
If you want to do some luxury shopping that is typical of Ginza, be sure to head to a department store. The old and new high-end department stores that gather in the city sell sweets and souvenirs that are only available at the facility in their so-called "depachika" (basement floors) and food areas. Whether you enjoy them for yourself or give them as gifts, either will be a special experience.
If you want to enjoy your takeaway food immediately, we recommend using the rest areas and public spaces in each store where you can eat and drink.
Artistic and high-quality sweets at Ginza Mitsukoshi

The symbol of Ginza Mitsukoshi is the lion statue at the main entrance, and the bustling Ginza Food Garden on the second basement floor is particularly popular. There are many high-end shops and often long queues to get in.
Bakery "Joan" sells "Ginza Chocolate Bread", which is made with plenty of chocolate, exclusively at Ginza Mitsukoshi. Many people line up to get the freshly baked bread, which is baked four times a day (sales are at opening time, 10:00, 13:00, 16:00, and 18:00, for a total of four times. For afternoon sales, numbered tickets are distributed at the store 45 minutes before).

Ginza Mitsukoshi has a wide variety of Western-style sweets, but the sweets from "Lenotre", founded by Gaston Lenôtre, known as the father of French pastry, are a must-try. "Feuille d'Automne" (864 yen, tax included) is Lenôtre's specialty, and is rich yet light in texture.
You can also eat the sweets you take out at Ginza Terrace on the 9th floor, so why not stop by for a break?

A chic and stylish gourmet experience at Tokyu Plaza Ginza

Tokyu Plaza Ginza is a commercial complex with a distinctive glass exterior inspired by Edo Kiriko, a traditional Japanese craft, located at a corner of Sukiyabashi intersection in the heart of Ginza. With a total of 13 floors, it is home to a variety of fashion, miscellaneous goods, and gourmet shops, as well as the Lotte Duty Free Store, the largest airport duty-free store in Tokyo. Don't miss the public space on the rooftop.

One of the most talked about items is the Ginza-exclusive Crepe Tatin from PARLA, known for its rich crepes that adults love. Tarte Tatin is made into a crepe in time for the season of red apples. The exterior facing the street has a stylish European feel. There is also a simple eat-in space inside the store.

Get souvenirs made in Ginza at Matsuya Ginza

Matsuya Ginza is the face of Matsuya, a long-established department store celebrating its 150th anniversary. It is the only department store with its flagship store in Ginza, and although it is the oldest established store in the area, it is proactively welcoming new things.
Matsuya Ginza is also known as "Matsuya for souvenirs," and the food floor on the first basement floor is home to a wide variety of stores, from reliable gourmet shops to Matsuya Ginza original shops.
Mille-feuille Maison Francais, with its stylish book-shaped packaging, is a mille-feuille specialty shop exclusive to Matsuya Ginza, and is one of the most recommended shops that is enthusiastically supported by women.

If you're looking for a taste that's unique to Ginza, we recommend the "Ginza Honey" (1,728 yen for 36g, 5,400 yen for 125g, 7,560 yen for 180g, all prices include tax) from honey specialty store "L'Abeille Matsuya Ginza Branch." This precious honey is harvested from bees kept on the rooftops of Ginza buildings. The honey, made from nectar from various types of flowers, has different flavors depending on the year, allowing you to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime taste.

3. Enjoy the specialty cuisine of a long-established restaurant
If you're not sure what to eat in Ginza, where all kinds of gourmet food are available, we recommend affordable, long-established gourmet restaurants. You can enjoy not only delicious food, such as Western cuisine that has inherited history and the unchanging taste of the original anpan, but also a story that is unique to Ginza. Go out for lunch or cafe time and combine it with sightseeing.
Enjoy the taste of tradition and innovation at Shiseido Parlour Ginza Main Store
Shiseido Parlour began in 1902 (Meiji 35) when a soda fountain that manufactured and sold soda water and ice cream was opened inside the Shiseido Pharmacy. In 1928 (Showa 3), a full-scale restaurant was opened, becoming a pioneer of Western cuisine. In the current building, you can enjoy the three pillars of Shiseido Parlour - shop, cafe, and restaurant - on each floor.

On the first floor is a shop selling Western sweets. The recommended item is the special cheesecake (3,456 yen including tax) that is only available at the Ginza main store. This cake is hand-baked by craftsmen one by one, and you can enjoy the rich cheese flavor that goes well with wine.

On the third floor is Salon de Cafe, famous for its beautifully presented parfaits with seasonal fruits. The strawberry parfait, which was on the menu in the 1950s, is still a popular item today. Of particular note is the low-sugar strawberry parfait, which has only 10g of sugar. This shows Shiseido Parlour's commitment to meeting the demands of the times while preserving tradition.

There is a restaurant on the 4th and 5th floors where chefs show off their skills. The restaurant's traditional dishes, such as curry rice, meat croquettes, and omelet rice, are carefully preserved and are a highlight of the restaurant.

Discover the unchanging taste of the original anpan at Ginza Kimuraya

Anpan is a well-known sweet bread. It was created by the long-established bakery Ginza Kimuraya. It started in the early Meiji period when bread, which was a Western food, was adapted to suit Japanese tastes. The bread, which is made of moist dough and filled with red bean paste, quickly became popular.
Today, they continue to use the same recipe and offer a mild-tasting anpan made with sake yeast instead of yeast. The salted cherry blossoms placed in the middle enhance the elegant sweetness.

Gin no To stew is also loved by Kabuki actors

Ginnoto is a storehouse-style stew specialty restaurant located behind the Kabukiza Theater. It was founded in 1955 (Showa 30), and since then, the menu has been simple, consisting of only stew and gratin. However, the stew is carefully skimmed off the scum and simmered for hours, making the meat so tender that it can be cut with chopsticks. It is served in a clay pot, so it is piping hot until you eat it.
As it is located near the Kabukiza Theater, it is a favorite of many Kabuki actors, and it is said that the late Ichikawa Danjuro XII was a big fan of the restaurant's mixed stew.

Enjoy coffee steeped in history at "Café Paulista"

Cafe Paulista was founded in the Meiji era and quickly became a hot topic for its Brazilian coffee and Western-inspired store design. It has been loved by many cultural figures such as novelists and newspaper reporters as a setting for Taisho modernism. The shop staff will tell you that one theory is that the term "Gin-bura" originated as an abbreviation of the students of the time who would "walk from their university to this cafe and drink Brazilian coffee."
The coffee they grew accustomed to has continued to evolve, and now their signature product is "Forest Coffee," made with beans carefully selected based on their own criteria, such as being pesticide-free and respectful of the ecosystem. Come try a fragrant cup of coffee in a shop that still has a classical and elegant atmosphere.

4. Watch traditional performing arts at the Kabukiza Theatre
Ginza has been the center of Kabuki performances since the Kabukiza Theatre was established in Kobikicho in the mid-Meiji period. Even after the building was renovated in 2013, the dignified atmosphere of the traditional tiled roof and karahafu roof continue to symbolize the traditions of Ginza.
Be enchanted by the glamorous performance at the Kabukiza Theatre

Kabuki may seem like something that requires special knowledge for first-time visitors, but it was originally entertainment for the common people of Edo. Even those with no knowledge of Kabuki can enjoy the vibrant costumes and the demeanor of the actors.
Tickets are available in a variety of seating types and prices, and can be purchased online, by phone, or at the theater box office.

If you arrive early, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the general plot from a pamphlet. When the curtain finally rises, you'll be drawn into a gorgeous world that resembles a nishiki-e painting.
There are many things to see, such as the actors' gestures and delivery of lines, the gorgeous costumes and stage sets, the sound of the shamisen and other musical instruments, etc. Using an earphone guide will give you a deeper understanding of the content.
Enjoy a bento lunch box at your seat during the break between performances. A popular snack is the Kabukiza's specialty "medetai-yaki," a red and white rice cake filling. Kabukiza Tower also has a rooftop garden and an experiential Kabukiza Gallery. Why not experience this historic traditional performing art and rediscover the charm of Japan?
