Highlights of Niigata Prefecture
Sasagawa Nagare
Designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument (prefectural natural park), this 11-kilometer coastline boasts stunning scenery and is now synonymous with beautiful seas. It is said that the name was chosen after the Sasagawa village in the center, as the tidal current that rises between the rocks is the source of the name. The strangely shaped rocks and reefs created by the new colors of the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, and the sea boasts some of the clearest waters in Japan, are must-sees.
