Have fun in the water at this beautiful shallow beach!
Guam is known for its beautiful ocean. The beaches of Tumon Bay, located on the west coast of the island, are shallow and have gentle waves, making them ideal for families to enjoy playing in the water. Matapang Beach, located about a 10-minute walk from the northern Tumon area, the tourist center, is particularly popular, but there are few tourists on weekday mornings, making it a hidden gem where families can relax. If you take children to the beaches of Guam, be careful of coral reef fragments. Wearing marine shoes will help prevent injuries and make you feel safe. Another recommended point of Matapang Beach is that there are lifeguards on duty during the day. Even though it is a free beach, it is conveniently equipped with covered benches, toilets, and simple showers. On weekends, it is crowded with locals enjoying BBQs.

Get excited about the "Tunnel Aquarium" where you can encounter thousands of sea creatures. Enjoy a stroll under the sea with your child.
Underwater World
During the hot days of the day or on rainy days, we recommend the Underwater World aquarium in Tumon, the center of Guam. This aquarium offers a wide range of programs that are popular with families.

You can observe large sea creatures swimming up close
First, there is the Ocean Safari, where you walk through the 100m-long tunnel aquarium. Not only do you see giant rays, sharks, and sea turtles swimming overhead, but you also see about 2,000 marine creatures swimming gracefully, making you feel like you're walking under the sea. If you have an Ocean Safari ticket, you can also participate in the Behind the Sea, which allows you to see the backstage area, so you can get a glimpse of the people who work at the aquarium. We also recommend the Sea Trek, where you can put on a helmet and wetsuit and walk underwater through the tunnel aquarium. Children aged 8 and over can participate.
Another popular attraction among children is the Mermaid, a character that appears around town and at the Sea Grill Restaurant on an irregular basis and hands out coupons. There is also a campaign for children where you can take a commemorative photo with a Mermaid, upload it to social media, and show it when you enter to receive an activity book, so be sure to check it out! There is also a plan where you can enjoy lunch or dinner surrounded by the aquarium, making it a spot that the whole family can enjoy.

A wild dolphin tour that both small children and the elderly can enjoy safely
Among the various optional tours, the "Dolphin Watching Tour" where you can go to see dolphins on a cruiser is very popular. This tour does not include any activities that require you to enter the water, so you can observe the dolphins from the boat, making it enjoyable for both small children and the elderly. Lunch is a buffet that is highly acclaimed for its deliciousness, and there are also child-friendly menu items such as Chamorro cuisine with a strong local flavor, curry, pancakes, and somen noodles.
