Hello everyone. I am Yoshida, a Nadeshiko member of the Miyazaki branch and a JAL Hometown Ambassador. Currently, three out of five staff members at the Miyazaki branch are women. With the call for the promotion of women's participation in the workforce, the Miyazaki branch is full of energy every day with the powerful "Nadeshiko power."
The Nadeshiko members are currently working on the "Miyazaki City Happy Life Plan for Everyone!" Miyazaki City is a place where everyone can have a happy life, regardless of their purpose of visiting, whether it be for sightseeing, business trips, or relocation!
As we actually live here, we discover and experience the various charms of Miyazaki City every day.

Enjoy the bounty of nature in Miyazaki City [Aoshima Detox Experience]

When thinking of tourist destinations in Miyazaki City, the first name that comes to mind is the popular tourist spot, Aoshima.

Aoshima is a small island with a circumference of about 1.5km, but the island itself is a sacred place known as a power spot. This is because it is said to be the setting for the famous Miyazaki myth of Umisachihiko and Yamasachihiko.
Aoshima, which can be reached by walking across a bridge from the beach, is filled with subtropical plants such as the birouju, making it truly a tropical paradise! Aoshima Shrine, located in the center of the island, is famous for its ability to bring good luck in finding love, and is visited by many women on trips with their partners, couples, and families. The Yomiuri Giants, who hold their annual training camp in Miyazaki City, also come here to pray for victory!
Another must-see in Aoshima is the "Devil's Sentakuita" (Devil's Washboard), which can be seen on about 8km of coastline. Sedimentary rocks formed underwater in the late Miocene epoch rose up, and after a long period of washing by the waves, the hard sandstone layers looked like piles of boards, hence the name "Devil's Sentakuita" (Devil's Washboard). Please enjoy this magnificent view that can only be found in the ocean of Miyazaki.
Aoshima also offers a wide range of sea activities. Surfing is one of them, and there are many courses that even beginners can enjoy, and boards can be rented, so you can easily try it out. Nadeshiko members from the Miyazaki branch also tried surfing for the first time.

In recent years, Aoshima has continued to evolve, with a variety of facilities that evoke the feeling of a tropical resort opening one after another. One that stands out among them is the stylish and refined adult space "AOSHIMA BEACH VILLAGE."
With restaurants, BBQ areas, pools, sauna areas, and gorgeous hotels, it's a tropical resort in itself! The beachfront restaurant "LDK" has a wide variety of menus to satisfy both those who want a full-fledged meal and those who just want to relax with some TEA TIME. And best of all, the beautiful ocean of Aoshima stretches out in front of the restaurant, so you can work on the terrace while feeling the pleasant breeze.

The real action starts at night! Miyazaki City's Deep Avalanche Culture [What's the best dish to finish off a night in Miyazaki?]

When talking about nightlife in Miyazaki City, Nishitachi is an absolute must.

Nishitachi is the largest restaurant district in Miyazaki City, centered around Nishitachibana Street in the center of Miyazaki City, and including the neighboring Chuo Street, Ebisu Street, Takamatsu Street, and Nishiginza Street. There are over 1,500 restaurants lined up, where you can enjoy delicious Miyazaki food and alcohol, including shochu, to your heart's content. Another great thing about spending time in Nishitachi is that you can have intimate conversations with the locals.
Miyazaki has an interesting culture called "dare-yami." In Miyazaki dialect, "dareta" means "tired," so the word "dare" comes from the word "dare," which means to drink a drink to stop the tiredness. Locals come here for "dare-yami." Once you come into contact with the people of Miyazaki, who are as gentle and warm-hearted as the warm climate, even a little too involved, you will soon be drawn into the swamp. Nishitachi is a healing place where you can quickly become friends with the locals.

And the last thing you should try at Nishitachi is a "final dish". In fact, there are many recommended final dishes in Miyazaki! Nishitachi in particular is lined with famous restaurants, so if you ask the locals for recommendations, you may get a variety of answers and have a hard time deciding! Among them, the most popular are "Kamaage Udon" and "Spicy Noodles".
Miyazaki udon is soft and chewy, known as "yawa udon." Dip the noodles in the hot broth and eat them smoothly. Even if you're full, you'll finish it in no time. And at the end, be sure to dilute the broth with the boiled water and drink it. It will gently seep into your stomach after drinking alcohol, and you'll be able to head home feeling refreshed.
Also, spicy noodles have been very popular in Miyazaki in recent years! "Spicy but delicious!" Once you try it, you'll be hooked, and many restaurants allow you to choose the spiciness to your liking, so even those who don't like spicy food can enjoy it. Many restaurants offer konjac noodles made from buckwheat flour, so women can feel free to choose them as a final dish, which is another reason for their popularity.

Making Miyazaki City a happy global city

1. "Intercultural Communication Seminar" by JAL flight attendants in Miyazaki City

We held an "Intercultural Communication Seminar" for companies in Miyazaki City with an eye on future inbound demand. The seminar taught staff who have many contact points with foreign customers how to communicate non-verbally and the importance of understanding each other's cultures, providing an opportunity to further deepen their understanding in order to attract inbound tourists in the future.

2. Intercultural Communication Café by Gen Z

We held an exchange event for university students in Miyazaki City and international students from the Japanese language department at Miyazaki Information Business Medical College. They gained a lot of knowledge by experiencing how to understand the cultural differences between their countries in a practical format. They also exchanged opinions from the perspective of Generation Z on points that make Miyazaki City livable and points that are difficult to live in.
