Masjid Jame

Masjid Jame is the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur, built in 1908. Designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback with a motif of Indian Islamic architecture, the entire building is made of marble, creating a solemn atmosphere.
About a five-minute walk from the side of the mosque is the confluence of the Klang River and the Gombak River. This place is called "the place where mud (lumpur) meets (kuala)" and is the origin of the present-day name Kuala Lumpur, so it has become an important place for the local people.

Women are required to borrow a cape when entering, so they can enjoy sightseeing while pretending to be Muslim. Please note that you cannot enter during prayer times. The Central Market, which sells everything from handicrafts to souvenirs and spas, is nearby, so why not stop by there as well?

This impressive building with its vivid blue dome is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, commonly known as the Blue Mosque. It is the largest mosque in Malaysia and the fourth largest in the world, with a capacity of approximately 24,000 people. The four minarets surrounding the dome, which is about 50 meters in diameter, are a whopping 142.3 meters high, making it a visually impressive sight.

Blue Mosque interior

We recommend visiting the mosque during the day, when the contrast between the blue and white of the building's exterior stands out against the blue sky, but it also looks fantastic and beautiful at night when it's lit up. If you're lucky, you might even be able to see an Islamic wedding ceremony during the day. You are required to wear a cape when entering this mosque, but they can be rented out inside the building. A free English guide is also available, so even first-time visitors can easily explore the building.

Masjid putra

Masjid putra

The bright pink Masjid Putra Mosque appears to float on Putrajaya Lake. Popular among women, it is known as the "Pink Mosque" and is located in the new administrative city of Putrajaya, about 40 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur. This area, developed with the aim of coexistence with nature, is known as the most beautiful city in Malaysia and is home to major administrative institutions such as the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance, and the courts. The Pink Mosque stands tall in the center of the city.
Not only the exterior but also the interior of the building is based on pink, and the harmony of the classic details creates a sacred atmosphere.

The central dome was photographed from inside. The rose pink color and the light filtering in through the stained glass are beautiful.

Although it is slightly smaller than the Blue Mosque, it is also an impressive mosque with a minaret (spire) that is 116 meters high and can accommodate 15,000 people inside. There are several viewing spots for the Pink Mosque, but the recommended way to see the mosque floating on the lake is from a boat. There are cruise ships and a small boat dock nearby, so on a nice day, be sure to view it from a boat.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is a huge cave located in Batu Caves town, about 10km north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It is known as Malaysia's most sacred Hindu site. When you visit the cave, the first thing you'll notice is the huge rock wall and the "Murugan statue" covered in gold leaf. If you climb the 272 steps next to it, you'll reach the huge limestone cave.

The 43m tall Murugan statue. Be careful as wild monkeys can be spotted around the Batu Caves.

The limestone that formed this cave is said to be about 400 million years old, and Hindu gods are enshrined inside the cave. During the Hindu religious ceremony "Thaipusam" held every year from late January to early February, more than one million believers gather at this place. If you want to take your time sightseeing, it is best to visit at a different time. Also, please note that as a general rule, revealing clothing such as shorts is not allowed.

It is also the oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur, and during the annual Thaipusam festival, a bullock cart carrying the gods' statues departs from here and marches to the Batu Caves.

The inside of the temple. There are people sleeping, giving a glimpse into the lives of the local people.

There are many ornaments and objects lined up inside the temple, and you will never get bored of looking at each one. There are many statues of saints lined up inside the temple, including the gate tower, and it is said that none of them are the same. Be sure to compare the intricate details.
